Snow days ftw. Of course, I have a million things I should be doing and instead I stayed fully ensconced in the covers until about 1:30 and have so far eaten a bowl of soup and played on the tubes.

I'm still hungry, too. And freezing. I was up for about 45 minutes before getting the text that classes were canceled after 11 (which is my first class. yay) and spent the entire time wondering how long it was going to take to dig my car out of the driveway. And then I didn't have to! HOLLA!

One of the local anchors on the news after the Olympics live broadcast says "Oh-lympics." It's driving me crazy. But this is not stopping me from wasting the night watching this stuff, oh no. Sigh. God, I'm so weirdly obsessed with the Olympics. Swimming is just addicting. And not just because, you know, swimmers (incidentally, I'm irritated by the new outfits, as no one wears the thigh-length ones anymore. Stupid record-setting Speedos. They're stupid anyway; that's why everyone is breaking records left and right. The swimsuits).

In other random ass confusion news, McCain is running an add that says that because the Real Obama is promising to raise taxes and government spending, there will be fewer American jobs. It is just me, or does this just not make any sense? I mean, really. That makes no damn sense.

I shouldn't say I wasted the day entirely: I did clean the bathroom upstairs which was... disgusting. But then it got to be about 6:00 and I was going to watch TV maybe through Scrubs at 7:00 and 7:30 and get some dinner in the process. And I'm still sitting here... Because damn swimming and men's team gymnastic finals. Which I wish weren't going on at the same time as these races, because I want to watch them. Fie. I could be watching them online, I just realized. Ah well. (nbcolympics.com streams all the events live. So, like, handball between two countries you've never heard of. It's awesome).

Phelps not mouthing the words during the anthem: Clearly, he hates America. Damn commie. Amirite? Because I am.

I'm finally getting a chance to finish watching the opening ceremonies. It's the Parade of Nations and I want to punch whatever the color commentator guy's name is in the face. Well, I have the whole time, but that's beside the point. I wish I could shut them off and just watch with the sound of the stuff.

Anyway, I do love looking at the looks on some of these people's faces. Most of them. There are the ones trying to remain all cool, the ones just beaming with glee, and the ones with jaws dropped. The woman with the flag in the country before Panama (this mon-alphabetical thing is getting irritating) is the perfect example of just glee. She was adorable.

The ceremony itself was fucking trippy.

Oh, China. I'm at quite a conflict watching these that I suspect will go on for the whole games.

(Nice, Bush. You were on camera looking bored and checking your watch during the nations thing. Nice.)

On one hand I'm like, HEEEEEE CHINAAAAAA I HEART YOU. And it makes me so excited for them in their little coming out ceremony blah blah blah yay for China. But then I'm like... so I wonder how the people whose homes were usurped for this stadium and who were never compensated as promised are feeling right now? My AI hat tightens painfully around the temples every time I get excited about the games. Oh, I just don't know.

I did just learn that the "s" is silent in Laos. Huh. Well now you know, I guess.

I was watching a bit of Cananda/China soccer game earlier, and those women were positively dripping wet with sweat. God, I can only imagine. blech.

These cheerleaders are seriously amusing me.

In other news, Vanessa and I saw Mama Mia! the show tonight in Cleveland. SO fun! Yay for happy dance funny music. Perhaps the best part was how not a single person on that stage was taking anything that was going on seriously. Way too cool. Omgwtfbbq.

Why do the womens' Hungary uniforms looks as though they were all gunned down earlier? Sigh.

OMG Andorra I love you. "That's almost 20k more people than are in our entire country!" Yes, yes it is. Because Andorra is the greatest.

I like listening to the Chinese names of the countries. Some of them are such a mouth full.

They are actually sort of talking about China's involvement in Sudan. Granted, it's largely because of the revoked visa issue, but still. I'm impressed. NBC is doing a lovely job of giving these guys four hours to talk and somehow just not talk directly about any of the issues here. Not that the commentary on the Opening Ceremonies is really the place for political statements and controversy. Still.

Dumbass commercial: women most certainly did not watch the Olympics in Greece. And they most certainly wearing clothes while competing.

OK, I take that back. They're commenting on controversy, but they're being assholes about it. "They happen to be the daughters of the Prime Minister, but that's probably just a coincidence." Fie.

Whoa. 14 year old British Diver. Yikes.

I have NEVER heard of Tuvalu. But I think I like it.

Oh I am too tired, but I have watched this damn parade this far. Plus, I'm not sure how many of the characters they are counting in this stroke order thing but we have 9.

God, our uniforms are ridiculous. I liked the Project Runway designs about a million tiems more. Ah Ralph Lauren. This explains it. Weak.

Yeah Sri Lanka!

I'm at New Zealand and here is still ANOTHER HOUR according to the DVR clock. I think it's time for bed.

Also of concern: how much stock does one place in a drunk phone call I love you? Oh, mysteries of the universe.

So I'm home.

I'm in such a good mood after the past few days (Amnesty helped a bit, but once boy got there=yay) but I'm also incredibly sad and wishing I could have stayed in that semi-groady, tombish hotel room forever. So I guess wishing that makes me happy, too, in a way.

Also: I LOVE Chicago. Omgwtfbbq.

It's official. My life will not be complete until I own this.

It just won't.

As for the new season, due to my indentured servitude I've only seen the first episode and I don't have much to say except I really don't like Blyane or whatever the hell his name is. Girlicious is NOT the new Fierce. And it never will be. Now STFU and GO AWAY.

Thanks to Netflix streaming videos and a reworking of the last week's schedule so I have every afternoon free, I watched Ultrachrist! today during my free time.

Yes, I really, really did. I'm not quite sure what to say. It was either my favorite movie ever, or it was the worst movie ever. Possibly both.

Ultrachrist: The crucifix is the symbol of Christianity? I HATED the crucifix! OUCH!

God, I love Beijing. pine.

Thanks Andrew Zimmern and your Bizarre Foods. (I missed watching him eat Stinky Tofu, and for this I am very distressed because I would have liked to have seen the look on his face. He might have liked the yak penis (yes.), but Stinky Tofu is something completely out of left field. Good lord.)

I just... Oh, I so want to go back. NOW. And it's going to be... far too long before I go over there again. and this distresses me beyond belief. Alas.

Taken from [info]wednes and I did two because, well, Michelle has two families! I didn't do all of Ethel's kids, however, as the other three are grown and I've really only met them a few times.

OH DENNIS I LOVE YOU! And I was wearing my "DENNIS!" tee that is super large but super awesome before I even read this story. I am no fair-weather fan, I am a Dennis Fan (fan)! I wish I had known he was planning this when I was too busy going "heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeE!" in my head on Saturday to say much of anything coherent. But then I may have given him a giant kiss on the cheek or attacked with glee or something.

I love being the only one up when I'm doing chores, which is why a lot of my room cleaning hasn't happened yet. Tonight it is especially lovely because I'm doing laundry and cleaning my room and it is hot up here, so I can do it all in my undies without having to worry about... you know... people. Well, mostly Roger, as that gets awkward. My mom and brother? haha Not so much. Only downside is windows, but in a Nice Suburban Subdivision everyone is all tucked in for bed on a Monday night by now and it's not like they can see much if they aren't pressed up against the windows with their slimy noses. Plus, it's not like I turn every light on.

Ahhhhh.... nocturnalism. So lovely.

D. E. D. Ded. This is what I am.

But it was oh so fun. Hamlet and Romeo and Juliet were both so great yesterday. The Boar's Head was not necessarily authentic English pub-like, but they did have a guy singing and playing the guitar and good fries. Driving today was only mildly frustrating around Detroit, where there is five hundred thousand miles of construction and as a consequence we had to go fifty million miles West before we could turn South East.

Now, Titanic is on TV. Horrah.
